Bentall procedure
A surgical technique used to treat aortic aneurysms and dissections. Named after its creator, Hugh Bentall, the procedure involves replacing the aortic valve, ascending aorta, and sometimes a portion of the aortic arch with a synthetic graft. This comprehensive approach addresses both valve and aortic issues simultaneously. The damaged aorta is excised, and a composite graft, including a mechanical or biological valve, is implanted. The Bentall procedure is often performed in cases of Marfan syndrome, aortic root aneurysms, or other conditions that compromise the structural integrity of the aorta and its valve.
