Aortic Aneurysm Repair
The abnormal dilation of the aorta, the body's main blood vessel. Two main approaches are used: open surgery and endovascular repair. In open surgery, a damaged section of the aorta is replaced with a synthetic graft through a large incision. Endovascular repair is a less invasive option, where a stent graft is inserted through small incisions in the groin, guided to the aneurysm site to reinforce the weakened vessel walls. Endovascular techniques often result in quicker recovery, but the choice depends on factors like aneurysm size, location, and the patient's overall health. Regular monitoring and timely intervention are crucial for managing aortic aneurysms.
